Salon Scheduling Software: Staff, Service Duration, and the Chair
Last verified: 2026-08-27
A salon scheduler is staff calendars plus service duration plus a chair: color vs cut vs two-stylist overlap, deposits, no-shows, and a client profile that remembers the formula. Massage and hair-salon appointment wording fold here. It is not Calendly with a blow-dry emoji.
Generic business booking: appointment scheduling software. Pet grooms: pet grooming software. Class-based studios: fitness scheduling apps.
Salon-specific constraints
- Bookable team members. Fresha Help: subscription price is calculated from the number of bookable team members; at least one is required; the owner can be non-bookable.
- Service duration and resources. A color needs a bowl, a processor, and a second block. Generic “30-minute meeting” software fails here.
- Online booking and deposits. Take a card to hold the chair.
- Cancellations and reminders with a policy clients actually see.
- Client profiles (formulas, notes, visit history).
- Recurring appointments for the six-week cut.
- POS / payments in the same ticket as the booking, when the vendor sells that.
- Multi-location billing. Fresha Help: a team member’s primary location can drive which billing profile is charged.
Fresha — per bookable person, geo-served prices
Fresha’s public pricing page lists an Independent plan at $19.95 and a Team plan at $14.95 per team member monthly, plus custom rates for businesses with more than 20 team members. Help Center: 7-day trial (vendor fact, not an offer from this site); messaging allowances are separate for automated vs marketing messages; a marketplace new-client fee exists for marketplace-sourced clients — confirm the live percentage and minimum on Fresha’s pricing page, which can geo-serve currency.
Choose Fresha when the salon’s product is chairs and bookable staff. It is the wrong default for a marketing agency that needed client sub-accounts more than a salon POS.
HighLevel — marketing calendar, not the color book
HighLevel can take a “book a consult” campaign. It is not documented as salon POS, per-stylist occupancy, or formula history. Prices: GoHighLevel pricing. Agencies: CRM for marketing agencies.
