CRM Research: Choose by Workflow, Not by Industry Noun

Last verified: 2026-08-27

A CRM is a record of people and work that has not closed yet. What that record must hold depends on the job: a marketing agency’s client accounts are not a dental recare list, and neither is an insurance book of business. This hub is CRM research for agencies, trades, and clinics — entered by workflow, not by swapping an industry noun onto one generic pipeline.

HighLevel appears in some of these guides when a marketing OS is a plausible option. It is not the default winner of the category, and this page is not a HighLevel catalog.

How to use this library

Start with the group that matches the database you actually run. If you sell software to many client businesses, you are in a different market than a practice or a trade that needs one operating file. Adjacent jobs — calendars, portals, automation — live on the software research hub.

Agency / multi-client

The object is isolated client accounts, not one company’s customers. Sub-accounts, reporting, and whether you are reselling software matter more than a single pipeline board.

Real estate

Lead portals, ISA handoff, and months-long nurture are the job. Realtor and broker wording folds here; there is no second URL for every synonym.

Trades / field services

These pages are not the same CRM. Contractors own remaining mixed-trade estimate-to-job dispatch. Roofers own storm and insurance production. Construction owns bid-hit and project handoff. HVAC, electrical, painting, landscaping, auto detailing, restoration, and home-builder sales desks are separate operating files. Recurring mow routes are software, not another CRM doorway.

Solar

The file has to survive design, financing, NTP, and PTO. That is a project, not a generic “closed-won” stage.

Insurance

Prospecting CRM is not an agency management system. Policies, commissions, and carrier compliance stay in AMS-class software.

Healthcare / dental

Dental recare and unscheduled treatment are not medical referral pipelines, and neither is a chart. Scheduling for chairs and providers is a different purchase.

Nearby jobs that are not “another CRM page”

Broad “best CRM software” roundups and unwritten HighLevel product reviews are not this hub. Named pairwise pages are on the comparisons hub. HighLevel plans and feature notes: HighLevel research.
